There may come a time where you or a loved one becomes mentally incapacitated and therefore in need of a guardian or conservator. Guardianship is the legal proceeding in a state court where a person called the “Guardian” is appointed to exercise some or all of the legal rights of the incapacitated person, call the “Ward”. A conservatorship is a legal proceeding as well, however, a person is appointed by the court to take care of someone’s finances when he or she cannot make these types of decisions. In either case, the attorneys at Bergen & Parkinson, LLC are well  experienced to assist and represent our clients from petitioning the court to attending the hearing for the appointment. These types of proceedings can be avoided in many instances if thoughtful care is given to your legal documents prior to becoming incapacitated.

“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”
